| HYERES, FRANCE-(15-4-2005) Here comes the Semaine Olympique Française again! Nine months after Athens Olympic Games, the elite of dinghy sailors, preparing a new Olympiad, has a meeting from 23rd to 29th April in Hyères, for one of its most important rendezvous.
Over 500 crews, representing around 50 countries will fight for the podiums of the eleven series scheduled (all Olympic classes, except the Star – plus the 2.4 for disabled competitors). The event is besides one of the two references – the second one being the Tornado World Championship organized in May in La Rochelle – used by Paris 2012 committee to communicate, before the deadline 6th July. Also during the SOF, on Thursday 28th April, the composition of the new French Olympic Team will be announced. An innovation this year : the organizing committee, in conjunction with the works undertaken by ISAF thinking about Beijing 2008, decided to test a new format of races, trying to improve the understanding of finals and the assigning of podiums. These changes revolutionize Olympic sailing events
